The 1st Engineering Week of Xiamen University Malaysia was successfully closed on 3 June 2023, bringing together faculty, staff, and students with a passion for engineering to partake in a variety of engaging engineering events.
In collaboration with different professional bodies, clubs, societies, and student bodies, this week-long event established a strong foundation for students to show their appreciation and raise the awareness of engineering in XMUM community.
The event featured the collaboration of 7 professional student bodies and clubs at XMUM: IEEE XMUM Student Branch, XMUM IChemE Student Chapter, IEM XMUM Student Section, ICT Student Union, NESE Club, Tech Club, and Robotics Club. Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd and AdoreSys Sdn Bhd supported the event as the silver sponsor and bronze sponsor, respectively.
The opening ceremony was held at A3#GF on 29 May 2023. Presented at the ceremony included Prof. Wang Han, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence; Assoc. Prof. Dr, Ong Wee Jun, Assistant Dean of School of Energy and Chemical Engineerings; and Ms. Subashini Raghavan, from School of Computing and Data Science. The event was also attended by Ms. Ho Jia Yun, HR Specialist of Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Vince Foo Fang Zhe, Senior Director of AdoreSys Sdn Bhd.
A wide array of activities was offered during Engineering Week, catering to diverse interests and areas of engineering. These included a TCM garden irrigation boot camp, a Final Year Project (FYP) poster exhibition, industrial talks, research talks, alumni talks, as well as engaging tours to simulation-integrated pilot plants and chemical labs.
